This page is the area where I explain some of my projects I am currently working on, as well as those that have been completed in the very recent past but are relevant still. Any questions about them are welcome and can be submitted by way of the feedback page and will be answered in some way or another... This paragraph is the only disclaimer of any sort on this entire site, and it's not even a very good one, so read it carefully. Nearly every site that mentions anything dealing with high voltage, chemicals, explosives or building basically anything has some explanation of why they are a professional and no one else should ever do what they are doing. They say they are publishing the site for entertainment or educational or bragging porposes. They tell you that they are not responsible for what you do with the information. Although they are right in saying they are not responsible for what you do, the rest of it is simply stupid. The only way to learn anything about any of this is to try it while being careful to not kill yourself. Accidents happen, which is a big part of learning what you are doing. I've melted high voltage probes, had electric arcs jump across and through nearly everything including me, put holes in the ceiling, started innumerable fires, doused myself with acid, vaporized screwdrivers with electricity, and the list goes on. If you are careful, you will soon find that it is remarkably difficult to kill yourself on accident. Know what you are working with. I have the benefit of having built or rebuilt everything I work with. Nothing is safe about jumping in and messing around with high voltage equipment that you are unfamiliar with. Quite a bit of information about most high voltage applications can be found on the internet, such as the HVWiki, or a simple Google search on a topic. Whatever it is, there's almost always someone that has made a documented firsthand account of the subject, often with important subtleties explained. So get out and try some stuff. Start cheap and trivial, set some goals, learn plenty, and work up to a higher competency level from there. When in doubt, duct tape it to the far end of a PVC pipe segment and give it a try. Since I do not wish to be sued or bothered by people disregarding common sense and my advice, I will now also say: DON'T DO ANY OF THIS, OR ANYTHING ELSE, FOR ANY REASON, EVER. Click on a project to see the detailed explanation of it: |
